Mad World

The Dying Dream

The Dying Dream is an assignment that I interpreted from a song, "Mad world by Gary Jules" by using a water color technique. The main idea that I used came from one of a phrase in a song that says "The dreams in which I'm dying, Are the best I've ever had". So, in order to turns this phrase into my work, I used white dreamy body that lying on the ground to symbolized the dream with an orange color to represented blood, and death, also at the back I used black, grey, and blue tone to enhanced the loneliness feeling that I can felt through the song. So, that is all for me, and I hope you all like it.

My Midterm Project's Song

Mad World by Gary Jules

All around me are familiar faces
worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very very, mad world, mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very very, mad world, mad world
Enlarge your world, mad world

My Tempted Red Riding Hood

This is my conceptual book jacket design assignment. I used the original 'Red Riding Hood' as my inspiration, but I also changed the characteristic of the main character. I wanted it to be unique, so that's the reason why I created this tempted theme for the Red Riding Hood.

My Self Portrait

My Self Portrait

This is me drawing my idea type of myself. In this assignment, I tried to tell a story of how I had changed through all these years. So, bear with me if it not that convincing, but for me I thought it is pretty similar to me though. If you have any idea, just feel free to comment.

Book Jacket Illustration

A Book Jacket Illustration is a type of layout design that usually used for book, or as known as book's cover. It's the most important factor for the book, because it is really similar to people's looks. If the illustration of a book cover  is good, catchy, and has a great interpretation, it would be interesting for you right? or as known as first impression. The illutrator who inspired me is John Rocco; the one who design a cover of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. He used drawing and sketching techniques for his design. His style of design has a unique characters, he gave the feeling of canvas painting through his work, it's like he used brushes to paint the work not the computer, and it inspired me. For example:

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Theif

This book cover maybe the most famous work of his; it's named 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Theif'. He designed this layout for Rick Riordan; the author of the book. There also a sequeal of this too, I'm not gonna name it all. This masterpiece of his is my favorite, I like the way he interpretated feeling and the story through the cover. And the color using was stunning, the complimentary color of orange and blue were simple, and fantastic.

The Blackout

This one is also my favorite, the Blackout. This one is his own work, he also used the same technique as the previous one. This one really straight and foward, the name of the book was called Blackout, so he drew one family with a flashlight in their hands. Another thing that is similar to previous work is the color.

The Moonpowder

These last two, I'm just gonna explain my feeling through it briefly. This one has another type of color scheme, he used a whole different theme, by using red, orange, yellow, and green. It help enhanced the joyful and fun feeling.

Wolf! Wolf!

The last one is Wolf! Wolf!, I liked this one, because of the expression on the wolf face. The expression of the wolf surely give me ideas about what should the story of the book will be. But for the color for me, personaly I don't like it, maybe just that pale blue from the back.
